About TexSAW

The explosive use of Internet technology for both businesses and individuals has created unprecedented benefits and potential threats for all users.

Combating these computer viruses and other cyber security issues was the focus of Texas Security Awareness Week (TexSAW) hosted by the Cyber Security Research Center at UT Dallas.

University, governmental and industry experts in cyber security, including data mining and malware detection, shared innovative research behind combating existing threats and slowing the spread of new dangers.

The four day event featured tutorials, a symposium and panel discussion as well as student workshops and competition.

“Our goal is to promote cyber security education activities and collaboration among academia, industry and government”, said Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham, the Louis A. Beecherl, Jr. I Distinguished Professor at UT Dallas and director of the Cyber Security Research Center.

The event was held Oct. 18-21, 2011 on the UT Dallas campus and was sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas.
